Muse:
1. Classical Mythology: Any goddess presiding over a particular art.
2. The goddess or the power regarded as inspiring a poet, artist, thinker, or the like.

My name is Jennifer Standley and I am a self-taught artist.
Creativity is definitely in my blood. My Mother can draw quite well
and is very crafty, my Father was a musician all his life, one sister is
crafty, and another sister is a talented photographer. Growing up
around creative influences was a blessing, as personal expression is
a great confidence builder. All of my sculptures are hand-made
One Of A Kind, no molds used at all. I have always loved working
with my hands, and making clay anything was my favorite part of
art class. I took a ceramics class quite a few years back and learned
a lot of great painting techniques I still use to this day.

I have always loved art of all forms, and am lucky to have family
and friends who are talented artists and musicians. Any kind of
expression through art inspires me, which brings me to my dear
friend Mick, whose creativity is the reason I sculpt today. He

always had confidence in me, and I owe a great deal of thanks to him for always giving me the extra push I needed. I used
to watch him draw the funniest characters, and was amazed at how many just kept flowing from his pen, each one with
different features that cracked me up. I decided one day to try to bring one of these characters to life, so I challenged
myself to the task of bringing one of Mick's 2-D character drawings into a 3-D potrtait.

This was the birth of Funky Figurines, also the name of my first website.

Once I gave sculpting a try, I was hooked. I absolutely love working with the stuff. I don't know how I lived without
sculpting for all these years. It's a great outlet for personal expression and especially fun to see the characters come alive
when they are finished.

After discovering a whole entire online world of OOAK dolls, I have expanded my sculptures into Fairies, Babies,
Creatures and whatever else "Muses" me. Somehow the name "Funky Figurines" did not fit my other sculptures, so I
gave the site a more appropriate name. Since the dolls are made from whatever "Muses" me, The Sculpted Muse
seemed a much better description.

As much as you think you know, there is SO much more to learn. With each completed sculpt I notice new things I
can do to improve on the next one. Observing my errors and learning new techniques motivate me to get better at
sculpting. Challenges are sometimes frustrating but fun, as it helps me to grow as an artist.

Thanks for looking and I hope you'll come back often to see my latest creations!

Happy Sculpting!
